XEMXIJA TRAFFIC BOTTLENECK....BIZARRE
It is incredible that Malta has never produced a Prost, Alessi, Schumacher or the like. Just watch them tearing around traffic islands or overtaking at blind corners. It is true that we have wardens, hidden cameras and so forth. But the fact remains that in Malta you have to be crazy to drive and arrive at your goal in one piece.
However, is it really the drivers' fault? Or is there a supreme, infallabile AUTHORITY that helps make things as crazy as possible?
Well lets have a look! Since there are many such banalities, let's consider why the traffic flowing from Mellieha to St. Paul's Bay and vice versa gets jammed . Is it the sheer numbers of Sunday drivers? is the presence of awkward speedsters?
NO and again NO it is only the fault of the TRAFFIC AUTHORITY which made the traffic signs around the area. ..... Why? Where in the world ( if not Malta) would you have access to cross from your lane through the opposite coming traffic, to enter a small area with an ice cream kiosk and some parking lanes. What happens is that as a car stops to do so and turn in the opposite direction, all following cars have to stop ( and help create a jam) while the opposite coming cars have to do the same, to let that car cross over. .... And this is done with the blessing of the TRAFFIC AUTHORITY because in that specific area the middle line is dotted ( broken) not thick, thus indicating that you can cross it.
INSANE. Really insane when a few metres away there is a roundabout and all that a driver has to do is to come down from Xemxija hill , go round this roundabout and then turn on the left to enter the mentioned alcove. On the other hand those leaving this alcove can do so by exiting from near ex- Xemxija Hotel keep on the left, go up Xemxija Hill ( and keep going if Mellieha is their goal ) or pass round the roundabout ( a few metres from the alcove) near the church and go down to their destination . That's how things are everywhere Europe, America etc where roundabouts are miles away not just a few metres away. But in jungle Malta the TRAFFIC AUTHORITY helps to create the most impossible jams through its sheer crazy directives and awkward and bizarre traffic signs.
For God's sake let everybody plead that such atrocities are re examined and righted as soon as possible. Let the TRAFFIC AUTHORITY do the right job and follow what being done in sane countries. Re mark the signs in that particular area with a heavy thick line or a narrow traffic island to obstruct swine headed drivers from crossing over

Starting point
Dear friends,I decided to try my hand at becoming a blogger. Since I have my different roles such as hobbiest, artist, writer, socialiser etc, I intend to organise my different pursuits so as my friends can keep in touch and up-dated according to their relation with me. In this way those who are in contact with me re politics can find some of my opinions expressed here. Those who at some time in the past ( and present) were my work collegues can also join in appropriatley in the section provided. At the same time I will keep my fellow philatelists ajourned with my thematic and country stamp collections. Likewise I will also keep aligned with all my dreamer friends who compose poems etc. It seems to be quite a tall order, but I will try to keep it up. Anyway this is already a start. Please help me along.
